Nike is preparing to release its first NFT sneaker collection on its recently launched .Swoosh platform on 5.25.2023 at 9AM PDT. The virtual sneaker, named Our Force 1 (OF1), is a digital interpretation of Nike's iconic Air Force 1 design.

The collection offers two different digital boxes: the "Classic Remix" box and the "New Wave" box. Each box type corresponds to different possible designs, including one design that was co-created by four Nike fans in January. The price for each box is set at $19.82, paying homage to the year the Air Force 1 sneaker was originally released.

Holders of the OF1 boxes will be able to open them at a later date. Nike states that each NFT will come with a paired 3D file, allowing holders to "express themselves in new ways." The company also plans to expand the utility of the NFTs in the future, potentially offering exclusive physical products or experiences.

Ron Faris, the general manager of Nike Virtual Studios, mentioned in a press release that Nike aims to explore new avenues for storytelling and building relationships while removing the limitations of physical products.

Nike introduced a beta version of its .Swoosh platform in November, hinting that it would serve as a resource for Web3 education and as a platform for purchasing and trading digital collectibles. Additionally, items purchased on .Swoosh can be worn in video games and other immersive experiences.

Members of .Swoosh will also have the opportunity to create their own collections and earn royalties from sales. The General Access sale for the NFT sneaker collection is scheduled to launch on May 25, 2023, at 9:00 AM PDT.
